Student Opportunity Awards

Student Foundation allocates Student Opportunity Awards (SOAs) to K-State students. All SOA funds are raised through the K-State Proud student campaign. Since its beginning, more than $1,357,426.19 has been raised and more than 700 awards have been given to students in extreme financial need. Read about some of our past recipients.

Student Opportunity Awards

Student opportunity awards are allocated by a student allocations committee, in consultation with the Office of Student Financial Assistance, to provide financial assistance for students who have demonstrated extreme financial need or those who need temporary financial assistance. Special consideration will be given to students whose future at K-State may be in jeopardy and to students who have exhausted all other forms of financial assistance. Students and faculty members are encouraged to nominate students in need, or students may nominate themselves. Applications are received online on a continuing basis and awards are allocated year round.

The SOA committee reviews applications on a weekly basis. During the Spring 2018 semester, this takes place on Wednesday 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m in Fairchild. Please allow 24-48 hours after that meeting time for a follow-up communication regarding your SOA application.
