Why I Give Week
The KSU Student Foundation hosts Why I Give Week, a celebration of philanthropy November 6-10. We have a whole week of activities to spotlight the importance of philanthropy at K-State! Students can visit our booth at the Student Union or Bosco Plaza (weather permitting) and look for signage throughout campus.
This week, we educate students on how philanthropy affects their everyday lives and thank donors for making the K-State learning experience possible. Our five daily themes treasure, thanks, talent, time, and testimony, allow us to focus on a different aspect of philanthropy for each day of the week. Join us at the Why I Give Week table on Bosco Plaza from 10am-2pm each day starting November 7th to learn more.
View the flag display in the quad to see just how many students benefit from philanthropic scholarships at K-State. Check out the column displays around campus depicting how generous philanthropy supports the K-State budget, and look for banners near campus buildings supported by private gifts.
Hungry? Come by our table to help us thank faculty and staff for the incredible work they do on campus! For each thank you note you write, enjoy a treat. You can also help us thank the many donors who have impacted your K-State experience by signing your name on a giant thank you banner to be displayed at K-State events in the future. In the evening, join us in Town Hall in the Staley School of Leadership Studies at 5:15pm and hear from an incredible panel of K-State donors. Ask donors about their philanthropic journey and why they give to K-State.
We will feature information on endowed faculty, or faculty that have the opportunity to do great work at K-State because of philanthropy. Look for our “Because of Philanthropy…” buttons, worn by faculty and staff throughout campus. At the booth, we will highlight how giving of your talent is philanthropic!
On Thursday, we focus on donating time. Stop by our table and give your OWN time to support a mini service project. We will be assembling care packages for veterans and soldiers in honor of Veterans Day and our neighbors in Fort Riley, in conjunction with USO.
This is your chance to tell us why you give your own time, treasure, and talent! At our table, help us with our “whiteboard testimonies” and tell us where, why, and how you give to the causes you care about. Can’t stop by our table? Show us on social media using #WhyIGive.
Use #WhyIGive and #BecauseofPhilanthropy throughout the week to start the discussion. We can't wait to celebrate philanthropy with you!
