Endowed faculty support makes a difference
By Hayli Morrison
Dr. Simon Ou is helping the U.S. Air Force enhance cybersecurity, and K-State computing and information sciences students are along for the ride. An endowed faculty award supports Ou’s research, which enlists students in solving real-world problems as early as sophomore year.
“We target practical problems with high impact in the field,” Ou said.
To recruit and retain innovative professors like Ou, K-State depends on faculty endowments funded through private philanthropy. This is one way alumni and partners offer critical support for the College of Engineering’s mission, K-State’s 2025 goals and the future of the engineering profession.
