Bookworm Colby Miller shares how K-State broadened the future of his passion

“I really enjoy stories. I’m big into fantasy books because authors have taken the time to set up whole worlds and such in-depth characters. The genre is just so fascinating to read. I’d have to say my top three favorite series are “Lord of the Rings”, “Harry Potter” and a series called “The Wheel of Time”, by Robert Jordan. The Wheel of Time has 14 books plus a prequel and the shortest one is about 600 pages. Wheel of Time, it takes a wheel of time to get through it!

“K-State has always stood out to me for their journalism program. With my scholarships and it being an in-state college, the tuition was nicer to me. I’ve wanted to get a dual major in English because I love books and have always thought about one day writing one. I initially discarded that idea because I was trying to graduate a semester early, but I don’t think that’s going to be possible now. So who knows? I might go back now and get a second degree in English. Then again, we’ll see.”

Colby Miller is a junior pursuing a major in broadcast journalism from Overland Park, KS.
