Charlie and Rebecca Claar help ensure the success of students in and out of the classroom.
Many at Kansas State University know Charlie and Rebecca Claar as individuals who continually put others before themselves in an effort to help students excel in the classroom and beyond. The couple not only gives to the university monetarily, but have devoted countless hours to helping ensure the success of the university and its students.
Charlie served on the K-State Alumni Association’s Board of Directors for numerous years and in doing so, he and his wife gained tremendous insight into critical areas of student need.
“Through our involvement on the board, we met so many K-State students that made us feel even stronger about our desire to give back,” Charlie said. “We realized how much our help was needed and are amazed at the positive ways students have benefited as time and money are critical today.”
The Claar’s awarded four scholarships to the K-State Alumni Association with the desire to aid student success in a variety of areas. Their gifts support students of Finney County, the K-State Marching Band, the K-State Golf team and students participating in the K-State Alumni Association Internship Program.
“It is important to give back because we fully believe K-State contributed so much to us being successful, and we want to see others have the same opportunity to gain the best education available,” Rebecca said. “In this dwindling time of state support of all universities, we wanted to help make a difference for future Wildcats and their education at K-State.”
