Empowering educators

Financial recognition encourages K-State faculty to go above and beyond in teaching and service.

Motivated professors make for a more engaging and beneficial college experience for students and future professionals. One of the most foolproof ways to encourage professors is to show support for their endeavors.

The Duensing Business Teaching Scholar Award was recently given to Associate Professor of Finance Tareque Nasser. He says the award has been beneficial to his teaching and work in every aspect, especially in his capstone class.

“The award motivates me to do my best in terms of teaching and engaging with my students, because I know my work is appreciated,” said Nasser. “I am encouraged to commit to my students and enable them to be the best they can be when they are entering the job market.”

Financial boosts to professors give them more ambition to contribute to the well-being of the university and become more involved. Nasser was already active in the college before he received the award, but the recognition assured him his efforts were appreciated.

Nasser is a very involved teacher in all of his classes, especially the capstone. He is committed to making a difference in his students’ lives, and since the capstone class is one of their last before graduation, Nasser makes sure to challenge the students in preparation for future jobs.

Nasser’s research involves corporate finance investment, but outside of that, he has been an influential part of Faculty Senate and the University Honors Program for the College of Business Administration. Nasser’s enthusiasm has catapulted because of the Duensing award, and he is more committed than ever.

Nasser speaks for all professors when he says, “We always appreciate the support of our donors; it is a great help to the faculty members and encourages us to go above and beyond.”
