Day of Giving helps competition team break world record.
When Wildcat Rocketry emerged as the surprise standout student organization during last spring’s K-State Day of Giving, people wondered: What’s the story behind this 13-member club?
Garnering the most donors was only one of the ambitious group’s big wins.
In April, the team’s rocket conquered the national Argonia Cup competition with a height of around 35,000 feet — earning 17,000 more points than the second-place finisher. In the process, the Wildcats bested 19 other collegiate teams and broke a world record for altitude in their motor class.
From motor certifications to electronics and other rocket components, every launch requires resources. Students build and test rockets at meetings, relying on specialized software to analyze flight data post-recovery.
As Wildcat Rocketry and other K-State teams prepare to push boundaries in competition, the need for support continues. And through K-State Day of Giving, K-State fans have the perfect opportunity to help them soar.
