By doubling scholarship support in one year, the College of Health and Human Sciences invests more in student success
In just one year, the College of Health and Human Sciences at Kansas State University has more than doubled the dollar amount of scholarships awarded to students.
More than 800 students were awarded scholarships valuing $3.2 million in November 2025. That’s up from $1.2 million awarded to 775 students the previous year.
Fueling the college’s ability to financially support students are the generous donors — individuals, families and industry — who help set students up for success at K-State and beyond. Fiscal year 2025 was the college’s third highest fundraising year with $7.8 million raised. Fiscal year 2022 was the highest with $12.2 million raised.
“This philanthropic support for our college is truly transformative,” said Brad Behnke, the Betty L. Tointon dean of the college. “It opens doors for talented students who might otherwise be unable to pursue their education, reduces financial stress and allows them to focus fully on learning, discovery and service. Most importantly, it affirms to our students that they are valued, believed in and supported by a community deeply invested in their success.”
This increase in scholarship support empowers the college to recruit and retain more students.
“I chose K-State because of the scholarships they offered,” said kinesiology freshman Gavin Hughes. “Growing up in a large family, I had to earn the money I needed for college. I worked two jobs to save, and the scholarships really made a difference.”
The college’s motto — in a world focused on things, we focus first on people — lives in its support for its students. The college offers more than 50 programs, from fashion studies and personal financial planning to early childhood education and kinesiology.
The college has three schools — the School of Consumer Sciences, School of Health Sciences and School of Human Sciences — that prepare caring individuals for meaningful lives and careers that promote human well-being.
