Tools for tomorrow

The Career Center gives K-State students the tools they need to build their future

To K-State, a successful job interview isn’t just about the interaction itself; it’s about the intentional preparation that comes before. The Career Center works side by side with faculty and advisors throughout campus to help students catch their dream job.

Trusty toolbox

The Career Center hands students personalized job assistance, resume support, interview preparation, networking opportunities, campus connections, professional photo headshots and even part- or full-time jobs and internships.

Among the most popular tools are the Career Center’s Handshake app and Career Closet.

Handshake gives students a list of available campus, community and remote jobs that fit their interests, keeping them updated on new and upcoming opportunities. The Career Closet is filled with donated professional and semi-casual business attire to help students dress to impress.

Jordyn Tombs, a business administration student, connected with the Career Center in her freshman year and eagerly started utilizing its services.

“Within the first month of school, I needed business attire for a job interview,” she said. “Thanks to the Kompass program introducing me to the Career Center’s resources, I was able to get my resume looked over and pick up some amazing professional attire for free.”

Constructive connections

Each year, the center also hosts an all-university career fair. All students are invited to learn about the occupational opportunities they have after graduation and make connections with future employers.

The Career Center equips students with everything they need to step confidently into the workforce. At K-State, success is built — piece by piece — by putting the right tools in students’ hands.
