Enhancing K-State’s Future

Charlie and his wife, Jan, established an award for the faculty in the accounting department in the College of Business Administration.

When Charlie Cole was an accounting student at K-State, he recalled being motivated by several faculty members in the department that still stood out to him 45 years later.

Charlie and his wife, Jan, established an award for the faculty in the accounting department in the College of Business Administration.

“What we hope is that this gift will help professors concentrate on their field of study more without being distracted by outside financial and other pressures. The benefit to the college will hopefully be higher retention and attracting the best staff,” Cole said.

The Coles, both alumni, considered their time at K-State the best years of their lives, sharing memories of the emergence of the football program during the Vince Gibson era and attending the Landon Lecture Series where they heard notable speakers such as Richard Nixon and Robert Kennedy.

So when looking toward the future of K-State, it was not hard for them to decide to give in support of faculty at K-State.

“If we can help, even in a small way, by assisting some of our outstanding professors and instructors, I believe the accounting department at K-State can continue to grow and excel,” Cole said.

“Jan and I are just two of thousands of K-State alumni who consider our years here the best years of our lives and wish to help the future generations,” Cole said. “Our thoughts for others considering supporting K-State would be, ‘Ordinary people banding together can accomplish extraordinary things!’ That’s why we support K-State and hope others will also.”
