Jordan Kramer, junior in civil engineering with minors in community development and leadership, flourishes through multiple ALEs with support from scholarships.

Applied learning experiences (ALEs) spark success, and K-State strives to make sure every student gets that opportunity. But what about students who can’t afford to study abroad or pursue internships?

Scholarships help make ALEs possible, growing students’ capabilities and career readiness. The world needs more students like this.

Why is it important that every student participates in applied learning?

“Applied learning experiences are amazing because they allow you to apply what you learned in class, explore a different culture or help people on and off campus. It will prepare you for your career and set you apart from others.”

What’s one of your favorite ALEs?

“Working with Engineers Without Borders has been one of the most meaningful aspects of my time at K-State. Taking the skills we learn in class and designing something to help a community makes all the late-night studying worthwhile.”

How have scholarships helped you?

“They’ve allowed me to focus on my academic studies and participate in clubs without having to worry too much about the financial stresses of college. I don’t know what I’d do without them.”
