A new way to connect with K-Staters

With more K-Staters scrolling the internet on their mobile phones and tablets rather than their desktop and laptop computers, KSU Foundation has created a new way to meet you where you “live” online, through texting.

The texting outreach program was first used during the inaugural All In for K-State campaign this past March. Since then, we’ve taken what we learned that day and are ready to launch the texting program. Our digital development officers, Georgina and Quinlan, and student gift officers began connecting with K-State family via text in July 2019.

What you can expect

Texts will originate from both 785 and 620 area codes. Digital development officers will typically text during the day and student gift officers will reach out via text during the evening hours until 9 p.m. CDT. K-Staters may be texted monthly and will always have the opportunity to opt out.

How did we get your number?

If you’ve been enrolled at K-State as a student, made a gift to the university or attended a K-State event (athletic, academic, cultural, etc.), your contact information is maintained by our partners at the Alumni Association. We do not purchase commercial contact lists.

You’ll know it’s from the KSU Foundation

KSU Foundation employees will identify themselves and the purpose of their text. Text communication with K-Staters will serve as a means for donors to update their contact information and join campaigns like All In for K-State. Below is a sample of possible reasons you will receive a text from the KSU Foundation:

  • First-to-hear KSU Foundation information and updates
  • Pledge reminders
  • All In for K-State and National Giving Day campaigns
  • Sharing important stories from K-State and the KSU Foundation
  • Pre-notification of giving opportunities

The texting program works on Android and iOS.

If you have any questions about the KSU Foundation’s new texting program, please contact Sara Prince, senior director of strategic solicitations.
