K-State Proud Week: March 1-5
What is K-State Proud?
K-State Proud is K-State's premier student philanthropy, led by the leaders of Student Foundation. Over the past 14 years, we have raised over $1.4 million for Student Opportunity Awards to help more than 900 students stay at K-State who otherwise would not have beenable to continue their education.
What are Student Opportunity Awards?
Student Foundation allocates Student Opportunity Awards (SOAs) to K-State students as a means to help keep them in school if they've exhausted all other resources. These funds help with expenses that would otherwise keep a student from graduating as a Wildcat. Some examples from the past include medical expenses, car expenses, or technology expenses due to the pandemic. Others have used funds for tuition bills. All SOA funds are raised through the K-State Proud student campaign.
How are SOAs allocated?
The SOA Committee meets weekly to evaluate applications. This group is composed ofundergraduate and graduate students. All awards are allocated under the guidance of the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
