Lowell and Stacy Kohlmeier use matching funds to provide financial assistance to students in the College of Arts and Sciences.
As the parents of two K-State graduates, Lowell and Stacy Kohlmeier understand the value the university brings to the people who live and work in the region, as well as those who visit Manhattan. It’s because of that, and their love of K-State, the Kohlmeiers participated in the
K-State Family Scholarship Program by creating a scholarship for students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
With the K-State Family Scholarship Program, new gifts of $30,000 are matched with $30,000 from the seed fund provided by Mary Vanier, for a total of $60,000. $10,000 goes into an expendable fund, making $2,000 scholarships available to be awarded to students immediately. The remaining $50,000 goes into the endowment, ensuring future generations of Wildcats will receive scholarships as well.
“While a scholarship gift is a donation, it is really an investment with long-term returns,” Stacy said. “Scholarships help enable K-State to attract the most driven students each year, creating a high level of academic achievement at the university overall and continuing to build its culture of excellence year after year. It is a perpetual cycle of continuous improvement, providing returns to the donor, the university and to the businesses and communities where K-State graduates live and work.”
