The new Bilbrey Family Event Center will pay off in multiple ways — from boosting student recruitment to scaling up economic development
Doesn’t a best-in-class agricultural college deserve best-in-show facilities?
Let’s cut to the chase: K-State needs larger, more up-to-date spaces to house the growing interest in animal science — it’s one of K-State’s top majors — and for hosting horse and livestock events.
This new project includes a multispecies competition arena to upgrade teaching and expand youth and extension efforts.
The new arena and surrounding facilities will draw tourists to regional rodeos and livestock shows. And it will be a magnet for students interested in top-notch academic programs. The facility will:
- Enhance K-State’s academic programs and prepare students to work in the livestock industry
- Improve recruitment by supporting youth activities like 4-H, FFA, horse and livestock shows
- Provide a climate-controlled, visitor-friendly environment for classes and competitions
- Ensure a safe environment for the rodeo club to practice and host its annual rodeo

Take healthcare to the people
In the article about K-State’s Wellness on Wheels program, you saw how it cares for pets in underserved areas. Just imagine if we did the same for people.
We could dispatch a crew of physician’s assistant students to help Kansans who sometimes slip through the healthcare cracks: senior citizens, rural residents, people living on reservations with limited medical care, underinsured families and others. Interested in helping this idea become a reality?
